Well, it's really happening now (deep breath). We board in about 20 minutes. We're leaving on Jan. 6th and arriving on the 8th and it is about a 9 hour flight. I guess this year is only going to have 364 days, thanks to crossing the international date line. No more comforts of home for a long time.

That is our Air New Zealand plane behind us above. The next dispatch will be our first from another country. WOO HOO!

I'm so excited!  I feel like I'm starting the journey too!  I have always wanted to follow someone's blog on an around the world trip, but always seemed to miss it or hit the tail end of it.  So your trip will be my first trip around the world figuratively and physically as well!  God bless, good luck and take lots of pictures!!!!!

I bet it already seems like a year since you were sitting in a dogsled in Banff, eh? I've been following the prelims of the trip and feel as if your rocket has now left the launching pad. I am already mesmerized. Happy trails!
