Meet Squeak, originally uploaded by LeeLeFever_TwinF.

Learning to drive on the left side of the road is a harrowing experience for a yank like myself. Ole squeak does the job just fine, I just have to remember... Stay left.

As Sachi will likely tell you soon, I have a problem with drifting to the left. Don't worry Mom, I'm being safe.

Right now we're relaxing in the back of squeak (our home for the next month) at the Bay of Islands, which doesn't suck at all.

It's a bit weird to driveward and into warmer climates. This area is known for water sports and the constant drone of boats, kids and various insects is lulling us to nap. Luckily the insects aren't coming down to bite us - yet.

This is Sach now. Lee is being safe when he drives, but sometimes the bump-bump-bumps from the tires on the shoulder give me more than enough adrenaline rushes for the day. I can't say much though because I can't even drive stick, much less on the left. He's doing great.

The water is fine. The sun is warm and stays out till 9pm. Maybe a kayak trip this evening. Off to unpack our backpacks for the month...

Sounds sweet especially as we try and break the record for rainfall.

What better time to learn stick than in a different country where you've never been before and everyone drives on the opposite side of the road! Go for it!!

Just an observation about driving on the left or on the right: the driver is always in the middle. That should help with the drifting problem. As turning... well, hope you're getting the hang of it!
