Well this figures... we leave town just in time. We just looked online and saw that the Seattle Seahawks (a football team from our hometown) are going to the Super Bowl! For some reason, no one seems to care here in Kaiteriteri (Able Tasman NP), New Zealand.
My mom emailed me today asking who I was going to root for as the Seahawks were playing the Carolina Panthers and I am a Carolina boy from birth. Sorry Mom, but it was the Seahawks. Blake was at the game... Tell us about it man...
Now to find a place to watch the game next week in one of the most remote regions of NZ. Hmmm.
you got two weeks to find a way to watch the game.
Look for a pub/bar with "Sky" digital TV (most have it these days) and you'll likely find the Super Bowl on when it's on.
Bah-humbug!!! Worse game I have ever seen. What happened to the Panthers? The Sea Hawks looked super. I hope they didn't use up all their talent last night. Love your tree. Reminds me of Dad's mighty Oak he planted a couple of years ago . It is now about 15 or better ft. tall. You have to start somewhere. Love, Mom
You two missed out on a great tailgate here in Seattle prior to the Seahawks game. One of my friends put it together and it was off-the-hook! There were about 50 people there, a big TV hooked up to an SUV to watch the other NFL game going on, a few tents and space heaters to fight off the 40-degree weather, plus plenty of food and tasty beverages AND the best part of it all.... a private port-o-potty that the group rented specifically for the tailgate. Now how cool is that?!?!? Blake and Chuck came by before they went into the stadium, so i'm sure Blake will have more comments on how the game was inside. Me and my friends just went to the tailgate and then came back home to watch the game. Now there's two weeks of hype before the big game in Detriot.
with ya all the way, man. had to go with the Hawks too, it's just a matter of principle, Seattle has never been to the big game and they have a great team this year. Plus, have you seen the size of Julius Peppers' ears?
The Seahawks game was good but they had it in the bag early so I went for a Starbucks latte, there's a new cinnamon dolce latte. Tasty but sweet.
Your game watching predicament is similar to my Aussie experience. I tried to watch the Canadian hockey games during the Olympics and all I got were news snippets. It was a very sad state of affairs.
...but it was so worth it. I will remember the fuzzy outlines of this day for years to come. Details will be harder to come by. Mark is telling the gospel truth. That tailgate fiesta was off the hook. Did he mention 200 jello shots in Seahawk blue and green?
Just as the game was starting Tony asked me..."Wonder who Lee is rooting for?"......Not Long into the game he looked at me and said....."I don't think I need to ask who Lee is rooting for huh? LOL" Oh by the way..Tony said to remind you that Shawn Alexander is a free agent and hopefully he will be coming to Carolina for 2007!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO PANTHERS!!!
We are loving your trip...we know You guys are having a blast!!
Love Tony & Tracey
I was able to find a station that carried the game last year when I was in Istanbul. The only bummer is you'll miss all the great commercials!! I saw the same damn British Air ad over and over. Find a good bar root for the hawks!
Hi Ya'll - :) I'm feeling you on the tug at your heart being from NC and still rootin' for WA! I was in Thailand when my Uncle called to tease me and say the Panthers were going to win. lol - NOT!!! :) I'm glad to see you two are having a wonderful trip. Hugs to you both!
