Feeling Old on Khao San Roadby leelefever (General | bangkok | dailylife | mood | rant | thailand)There is a famous street in Bangkok called Khao San Road which is known as the "backpacker ghetto". It has cheap rooms, cheap food, lots of bars and hence, lots of backpackers. Post From: Bangkok, TH

As the 30-year old backpacker I was over a year ago when I visited those, there, them parts, was tempted to make the big purchase of a samesamebutdiff shirt for all of 2 seconds... agree with your analogy. However, I did stay in the Kingdom of travellers, and I too felt eerily old(er!). Difference was I was just there for a few days - Trick was: drink a lot of beer Chang and poof! you're 22 all over again!... Hey - if you cats are heading to Cambodia at all, I spent 3 weeks through the whole country and could recommend some deets if you're interested... enjoy the days with kk and Scales! ciao, mc. login or register to post comments by inalee (not verified) on September 6, 2006 - 4:18am
Westerners are bit sad in Khao San Road
My husband and i been to Thailand twice. We stayed at Khao San at first each time. As me, from China, i do really think that westerners are pretty sad in Khao San. It seems to me, young westerners are there for all their bad habits that are probably not accepted in their own countries. They like sitting in the bars or restaurants with cigarette one hand and beer the other hand, or have tatoos all over their bodies which to me it's really a mess, or have ting ting which make another mess on their head. They think they are cool, but i do think they are pretty sad! |
