Want One

We've seem these little "Smart" cars all over Europe - especially in Germany and Italy. They cost about USD 6-8,000 and we've been curious about their gas milage. Seems pretty smart to me.

That site above is their British site, so keep in mind that the Imperial Gallon and the US Gallon are a different size. The Smart Car has been in Canada for 2 years now, I'm straight north of Seattle and they are all over my town (Abbotsford). A check of the site shows they are about to release it in the US, but be careful as there appears to be a lot of websites out there pretending to be the "official" site where you can reserve one. The actual official US site that is linked off of DaimlerChrysler's site and off of Smart.com is http://www.smartusa.com. It mentions a figure of 60 mpg there; it is kind of general since they are not officially released. The Canadian stats can be found at http://www.thesmart.ca/index.cfm?id=4730
